Installation Requirements
The CFTT600 Slimline Tank is designed for above-ground storage of water and liquids of similar density. Proper installation is essential for safe operation and maximum service life.
Foundation Preparation
Install the tank on a solid, level, fully supported foundation capable of supporting the combined weight of the tank and its contents.
Recommended foundations include:
- Reinforced concrete pad
- Compacted gravel base with a level bearing surface
- Engineered steel skid or platform
Avoid:
- Uneven ground
- Point loading
- Wooden pallets
- Unsupported spans
- Soft or unstable soil
The entire base of the tank should be fully supported to prevent distortion.
Positioning Requirements
- Install the tank upright on its base, long side to the wall or fence where space is tight.
- Ensure the tank is level before filling.
- Allow sufficient clearance around the tank for plumbing connections and maintenance.
- Position the tank where the lid can be fully opened.
- Protect the tank from accidental vehicle impact where applicable.
Lifting and Handling
Handle the tank only when it is empty.
- Lift only when the tank is empty.
- Use wide straps around the body, or lift from below on a pallet or forks that support the base.
- Do not lift by fittings, the lid or the top edge.
- Never lift or transport the tank when filled.
Inlet and Outlet Connections
Fittings, bulkheads and drains are added to order with the online tank configurator on this page, so the tank arrives ready for your plumbing.
Best practices include:
- Support all external pipework independently of the tank.
- Avoid placing mechanical loads on bulkhead fittings.
- Install isolation valves where maintenance access is required.
- Verify all threaded connections are sealed appropriately before filling.
Ventilation
The tank includes a 10 in threaded lid. Air must be able to enter and leave the tank as it fills and empties: use a vented lid or fit a breather if the lid seals, keep the vent unobstructed, and close the lid after servicing.
Maintenance Access
Provide adequate clearance for opening the lid, inspecting and cleaning the interior, and servicing the plumbing connections.
Recommended minimum clearances:
| Location | Recommended Clearance |
|---|---|
| Above the lid | 24 in (600 mm) |
| Around plumbing | 12 in (300 mm) minimum |
| Around tank | Sufficient space for inspection and servicing |
Safety Recommendations
- Install only on a fully supported surface.
- Intended for water and liquids of similar density; ask us before storing anything heavier.
- Do not support external plumbing with the tank fittings.
- Keep the lid closed when not servicing the tank.
- Secure the tank properly during transport.
- Follow all applicable local plumbing, transportation and safety regulations.
Maintenance Recommendations
| Maintenance Task | Recommended Interval |
|---|---|
| Inspect tank exterior | Every 6–12 months |
| Check fittings and connections | Every 6 months |
| Inspect lid and vent | Every 6 months |
| Clean tank interior | Annually, or as required |
