Wisy Floating Filter, fine, 1 1/4″, 300 micron

Since all harvested rainwater is filtered before entering the tank, the floating filter operates optimally, taking water from just below the surface. This depth offers the highest quality water in the tank because any particulates either float on the surface or settle at the bottom. In RMS-designed systems, the floating filter primarily serves as an uptake point for the pump rather than a filter, resulting in minimal maintenance requirements.

Description

Since all harvested rainwater is filtered before entering the tank, the floating filter operates optimally, taking water from just below the surface. This depth offers the highest quality water in the tank because any particulates either float on the surface or settle at the bottom. In RMS-designed systems, the floating filter primarily serves as an uptake point for the pump rather than a filter, resulting in minimal maintenance requirements.

The floating filter is composed of a polyethylene ball and a stainless steel filter, and it comes with a standard 7 ft. length of food-grade suction hose and a male thread to barb fitting for connection. Nozzle connections are available in 1 1/4″ and 2″ sizes. The filter can be purchased separately or as part of a kit for both submersible and booster pumps. It has a filter mesh size of 0.3mm (300 microns) and is designed as a fine suction filter without a non-return valve. It is suitable for underwater pressure pumps and features a 15 cm diameter floating ball.

WISY floating filters come in fine (0.3 mm mesh size) or coarse (1.2 mm mesh size) variations. Fine filters are ideal for water that hasn’t been pre-filtered, such as from open waters, rivers, lakes, ponds, or wells. Coarse filters are best for drawing pre-filtered water from cisterns, tanks, or closed containers. Both types are available with or without a non-return valve for different pump applications. The integrated non-return valve prevents the hose from running dry when connected to a suction pump.

The environmentally compatible polyethylene floating ball, along with all other stainless steel components, ensures durability. The rounded nozzles protect the hose, maintaining its functionality even with frequent movement. The additional bead on the nozzles secures the hose firmly.

For floating filters with an integrated non-return valve, note that the highly flexible hose cannot hold pressure and is suitable only for suction pumps controlled by an automatic switch with a non-return valve. If the system has an expansion vessel controlled by a pressure switch, the pressure will extend into the suction hose, making it unsuitable for this setup. Alternative solutions are available for such systems; please contact us for more information.

The float mechanism allows the suction point to rise and fall with the water level, drawing water from the cleanest area of the cistern. Greasy and light debris drain away via the overflow, while sand and heavy particles settle at the bottom. The large surface area of the floating suction filters ensures minimal flow resistance, allowing the pump to operate efficiently. The rounded, hose-protecting nozzle with an additional bead guarantees the hose’s secure hold and functionality, even with frequent movement.
